In today's world, businesses demand access to their systems 7x24x365. It's critical for businesses to understand the value of a business continuity and disaster recovery plans; without them, business owners can face revenue loss, interruption of service, unhappy customers and much more unexpected losses. With the Carbonite Availability product line from Carbonite, small and medium businesses can count on maximum uptime with minimal hassle.
As we expand in this market segment, we are seeking a seasoned product manager to lead the development of our Carbonite Availability products. In this role, you'll be responsible for understanding the High Availability (HA)/Disaster Recovery (DR) needs of small and medium businesses, becoming a subject matter expert in this market. You'll translate those market needs into technical requirements and define the short and long-term product roadmaps and overall vision for this Carbonite Availability platform.
You'll need to be comfortable in a fast-paced environment researching user needs, generating new product concepts and rapidly iterating on them to drive desired business results. You will enjoy a balance of customer interaction and collaboration with talented cross-functional teams such as engineering, sales, UX, marketing, etc. You will be responsible for determining the most critical features to support this product offering, the financial opportunities and costs associated with each, and ensure a complete, powerful, easy-to-use implementation. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Product Manager to join a high-caliber team and be a key member of defining current and future products within the Carbonite Availability offering.


Specific Objectives and Responsibilities

Your First Six Months:
  • Rapidly gain an understanding of the Carbonite products, their economics, the technology behind them, and lead design & discovery processes to shape the product roadmap
  • Learn Carbonite's process for user research, product development, and optimization
  • Develop working relationships with each stakeholder to communicate product direction as well as manage requests for new product functionality
  • Demonstrate solid management and mentorship skills
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the development team through day-to-day interactions over the course of several sprint development cycles
  • Learn the wider HA/DR market, competition, and industry trends

Six to Twelve Months and Beyond:
  • Drive the long-term product direction as the person with the best overall picture of the opportunities and priorities in front of you and the team
  • Proactively identify and drive to completion product initiatives that will have a measurable impact on company financial results
  • Act as the internal advocate and leader for the Carbonite Availability product line within the company

  • Manage several stakeholders across the entire organization and develop a prioritized work plan for your development team that optimizes overall value to the business
  • Find the appropriate balance between new features, experience improvements, support issues and architectural work necessary to ensure success
  • Understand how Carbonite Availability fits into the long-term company vision and use all of your knowledge of the competitive landscape to propose a compelling and ultimately successful vision for this product line

Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years relevant work experience, prior product management experience

    Bachelors and/or Masters in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent relevant experience

    Significant hands on experience with virtual, public and private cloud environments, as well as Linux and Windows Server OS

    Demonstrated prior success with defining a new product or features, testing & rapid iteration, and driving positive results for the business

    Excellent verbal and written communications skills
