The Children's Village - Employer Profile
Our mission is to work in partnership with families to help society's most vulnerable children so that they become educationally proficient, economically productive, and socially responsible members of their communities.
Behind this mission lie three core beliefs: First, all children and youth need connections to adults, preferably family members, who believe in them and will remain connected throughout their lives. Second, education, appropriate social behavior, and job skills are essential to functioning independently in society. And third, everyone has strengths and the desire to make his or her life happy and fulfilling; with support and the tools to overcome obstacles, most can and will succeed.

Our organizational structure
The Board of Trustees oversees the Children's Village, a charity founded in 1851 that serves approximately 10,000 children and families in the New York metropolitan area each year. The Children's Village employs nearly 800 staff and has the privilege of working with 500 volunteers. There are three related organizations that support its work:
The Children's Village Institute, formed in 2003, supports the activities of The Children's Village through fundraising, public information, advocacy and research;
Greenburgh Eleven School District, a public special act school district established by the State of New York, provides education to residents of The Children's Village as well as more than 100 day students; and
D'Assern Housing Corporation, a 112 unit Mitchell-Lama Housing Project, provides affordable housing for staff members of The Children's Village.
