The Associate, Corporate Finance, you will support the preparation of valuation related materials and reports for current assets, ongoing development projects and potential future investments. In this role, you will support the preparation of reports on corporate metrics including capital structure and company defence strategy. You will facilitate the due diligence and sign off process for all critical model inputs consistent with Transurban's record management and risk management policies.

The impact you'll have:

  • You'll work to identify and apply the best approach to analysis to generate accurate solutions to problems

  • You'll review financial statements and data to identify operational and financial issues and enhance understanding of the business

  • You'll prepare accurate and timely financial analysis, capable of withstanding internal and external scrutiny

  • You'll assess strategic and financial merits of investment proposals

  • You'll select the most appropriate valuation approach taking into account available data and purpose of the valuation exercise

  • You will understand the components of cost of capital

  • You will construct a detailed financial model from scratch, obtain input assumptions, undertake error checking and track changes

  • You will undertake valuation including performing appropriate sensitivity and risk analysis

  • You will structure and design models from specific business and industry value drivers

  • You'll review relevant legal and project documentation, due diligence and other reports to ensure the financial model accurately captures and calculates assumptions and other information

  • You'll work with external financial model auditors during financial model auditing and review processes and update financial models in accordance with these processes

  • You'll undertake the periodic update of North American asset financial models to be presented to boards, government entities, financiers and rating agencies

The talents you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree (post graduate degree will be highly regarded)

  • 5 to 7 years progressive career expertise

  • Excellent technical financial modelling skills

  • Strong and proven ability to work with and build complex financial models (including use of macros)

  • Outstanding financial and commercial analysis skills, including excellent spreadsheet and data analysis skills

  • Understanding of corporate finance theory and its practical application

  • Ability to quickly grasp new ideas and concepts

  • Strong problem solving abilities

  • Understanding of financial management and its relativity to financial analysis and modelling
