The University of Memphis is seeking a Director of Development for the College of Education to join our growing fundraising team. Located on a beautiful campus in the heart of one of the South's largest cities, the University of Memphis is one of just three research universities in Tennessee. Through its thirteen colleges and schools, the university offers undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and professional degree programs to its more than 22,000 students.

The College of Education is the founding program of the University of Memphis, dating back to 1912, when West Tennessee State Normal School first opened its doors to students. Today, the College offers 57 degree programs to undergraduate and graduate students. It is home to 14 research centers and institutes, including two laboratory schools, the Barbara K. Lipman Early Childhood School and Research Institute and Campus Elementary School.

Job Purpose and Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to foster focused relationship building and major gift cultivation and solicitation efforts to serve the needs of the College of Education. Responsible for developing fundraising and development programs and for directing related activities in support of these programs.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Development for the College of Education is part of a team of major gift officers that represent the various colleges and schools across campus. The Director will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors in support of the College, with a focus on gifts of $25,000 and above. The Director will actively manage a portfolio of 100-125 prospects and donors, execute a target of 95 personal visits, and deliver 18-22 written proposals annually. The Director of Development will work closely with the Dean for the College of Education and collaborate with colleagues in the Office of Development.
