Under the general direction of the Director of the Graduate Diversity and Inclusion, the incumbent will be responsible for providing ongoing administrative and operations support for the Office, and assisting the Director with managing and coordinating all graduate student diversity and inclusion programs in the Graduate School, including its federally-funded McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program (McNair Program) and its State of Wisconsin-funded Advanced Opportunity Program (AOP Program). This is a one-year, fixed term renewable position; portion of the position funding comes from extramural grants.

Position Summary

The Graduate Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator provides day-to-day management and coordination of all GD&I programs and operations in the Graduate School, including the day-to-day management of its federally-funded McNair Program, its State of Wisconsin-funded AOP Program, and other government, foundation, and philanthropically funded programs. The position will support efforts to recruit and retain a diverse population of graduate students, especially those from minority and economically and socially disadvantaged groups. The incumbent will assist the Director of GD&I with the implementation of all aspects of the McNair Program, including recruitment of students to the program, counseling and advising of students in the program, planning and coordination of program seminars and student activities, including travel, liaising with faculty members and programs, monitoring expenditures and budget, maintaining all program-related databases, conducting program evaluations and assessment needed for annual reports, and preparing and maintaining all program documentation. The incumbent will also assist the Director of GD&I with the implementation of all aspects of the AOP Program, including management of processes for the nomination and selection of AOP Fellows, liaising with faculty members and programs, communicating with nominees and Fellows, monitoring fellowship compliance, overseeing monthly and travel payments to Fellows, maintaining all program-related databases, conducting program evaluations, and preparing and maintaining all program documentation.


Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree, or commensurate combination of directly related experience and relevant coursework.
* Proficiency with MS Office Suite, or similar office productivity software.
Preferred Qualifications
* Professional work experience in a closely related/similar function.
* Experience working with low income, first generation, historically under represented students.
* Evidence of proficiency with creating and managing spreadsheets/databases.
* Experience with event planning.
* Demonstrated knowledge of, and/or experience in, TRIO Programs with emphasis in the McNair Program.
* Experience working with graduate students in advising, counseling, and/or professional development.
* Past McNair Scholar.
* Evidence of experience/familiarity with Qualtrics and D2L.
* Prior experience with diversity initiatives.
