The City of Collinsville is establishing an eligibility list of candidates for a full-time, union position of Maintenance Technician | Relief Water Plant Operator. The Civil Service Commission is responsible for the examination and appointment of all civil service positions within the City of Collinsville. The process requires that the Commission create an eligibility list, which is a list of applicants that have qualified for a particular position. As vacancies occur, those on the list are "certified" for hire by the Commission, in order.
This position is primarily responsible for overall maintenance of the City's 5 MGD lime softening water treatment plant.
Maintenance Technician duties include but are not limited to general maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of groundwater wells, including pumps and motors; chemical feed and process equipment; process control equipment; high service pumps and related equipment; water distribution storage tanks and related equipment; building and facilities maintenance; grounds maintenance; and routine housekeeping.
Relief Operator position is responsible for the operation of the water treatment facility in a relief capacity as directed by the Chief Operator performing all necessary functions in the operation of the water treatment plant. Duties include but are not limited to: operation, monitoring and control of a wide verity of process equipment including pumps, motors, and chemical feed equipment; and performing various lab tests according to established guidelines.
Candidate must maintain the ability to work flexible schedule as to provide shift coverage for all short and long term rotating shift vacancies including holiday and weekends.
