THE POSITION


The City of Folsom is currently seeking an enthusiastic Senior Civil Engineer looking for an opportunity to lead our Stormwater Engineering Division. Position duties are varied and include project management, budgeting, scheduling, staff training, public outreach, and complete project delivery.

DEFINITION


Under direction, plan, coordinate, supervise, and participate in the performance of professional engineering activities of a complex nature involving engineering planning and design, construction project management of utilities, buildings and roads, and land development and plan check activities. Incumbents may exercise direct and/or indirect supervision over lower level personnel.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS


The Senior Civil Engineer is the lead in the series. Positions at this level are distinguished from those in the lower classification of Associate Civil Engineer by the independence with which they perform their duties of handling the most difficult and complex work and performing lead work.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS


Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.


A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:


?Education: A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.


Experience: Five (5) years of full-time, increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience in the assigned discipline, including significant supervisory experience. License, Certificate, Registration Requirements: ?Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California.

SUMMARY OF EMPLOYEE BENEFITS (This position is part of the Folsom Mid-Management Group) Benefits are subject to negotiations with employee organizations. Standard benefits are listed below: Health Benefits: A variety of plans are offered with the City paying a generous portion of the premium. Dental, vision and life insurance plans are available with the City paying 100% of the monthly premium for employee & dependents. Administrative Leave: 80 hours per fiscal year Annual Leave: 0-5 years = 16 hrs. per mo. 5-10 years = 18.68 hrs. per mo. 10-15 years = 21.34 hrs. per mo. 15+ years = 24 hrs. per mo. Holidays: The City observes 13 per year.


Retirement: The City currently offers the PERS 2% @ 55 pension plan for “classic” members with employee paying a 7% contribution and 2% @ 62 for “new” members with employee paying a 6.25% contribution. Anyone hired on or after January 1, 2013 will be subject to the applicable provisions, retirement formulas, and plan benefits/restrictions associated with the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act of 2013. The City also participates in Social Security.
