SOL PRICE CHAIR IN SOCIAL INNOVATION

The University of Southern California invites nominations and applications for a senior faculty position in the Price School of Public Policy with the designation of the Sol Price Chair in Social Innovation and an affiliation in the Sol Price Center for Social Innovation. The successful candidate will have an exceptional record of research and scholarship in the field, or may have a distinguished record of practice and leadership in social innovation. Candidates should have a track record that demonstrates their capacity to contribute to the development of the field of social innovation. Candidates with a Ph.D. and demonstrated scholarly contributions and teaching in social innovation may be considered for a tenure-track appointment.

The successful candidate will would be expected to provide leadership within PriceCSI and work closely with the Faculty Director to accomplish the mission of PriceCSI. All candidates would be expected to help develop curricular programs in the field of social innovation with the Price School. PriceCSI is committed to advancing understanding of social innovation, with an explicit recognition that novel solutions to persistent social problems can be found within innovation, social movements, and cultural shifts. In addition, we are particularly interested in solutions that address the lives of the disadvantaged and the quality of life in low income, urban communities. The Center is governed by a joint board of the Price School and Price Philanthropies.

The Center is well-positioned to build on the unique strengths of one of the world's leading schools of public policy. The Price School houses a unique set of professional fields - public policy, public management, nonprofit leadership, urban planning, real estate development and health care - that emphasize the link between theory and practice. The School supports a broad array of research centers in governance and philanthropy, urban development, and social and health policy. The School has a long standing commitment and experience in working across government, nonprofits, and business to develop solutions to critical social problems.

About the Sol Price School of Public Policy:

The mission of the Price School is to improve the quality of life for people and their communities, here and abroad. We achieve this mission through education and research that promote innovative solutions to the most critical issues facing society, with a particular focus on governance, urban development, and social policy. The Price School offers a CAHME-accredited Master of Health Administration, masters' degrees in Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Health Administration, and Real Estate Development, several executive master's degrees, and Ph.D. programs in Public Policy and Management and Urban Planning. A growing program in interdisciplinary undergraduate studies is also offered.

Among them are the Bedrosian Center on Governance and the Public Enterprise, the Center on Philanthropy and Public Policy, the Price Center on Social Innovation, the Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy, the Center for Economic Development, the Center for Sustainable Cities, the National Center for Metropolitan Transportation Research, the Lusk Center for Real Estate, and the Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE), the country's first Homeland Security Center of Excellence. Annual sponsored research volume approximates $41 million.
