Associate Dean for Research and Chair of the Department of Health Sciences

The School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) is one of 16 academic units at IUPUI, a leading urban research institution. SHRS has a long and distinguished record of offering nationally recognized graduate and professional degree programs in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Health Sciences. Faculty in the School have an excellent track record of submitting competitive proposals, and securing grants and contracts from agencies including the National Institutes of Health.

The School is seeking an individual with evidence of research and leadership skills to serve in the newly created position of Associate Dean for Research and Chair of the Department of Health Sciences. This position reports to the Dean and assumes primary responsibility for advancing the School’s research and scholarship mission, and providing leadership for the PhD in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

The successful candidate will have:
•Extensive experience with grant agencies
•Experience in promoting interdisciplinary collaborative research
•Knowledge of pre and post award processes relating for funded research, including compliance
•A record of grant/contract funded research
•Experience with faculty and doctoral student mentorship in research
•Demonstrated commitment to diversity
•Publications in peer-reviewed journals
•Evidence of leadership and organizational skills
The applicant at a minimum will have an earned doctoral degree in a field related to health and rehabilitation sciences. Record of achievement to merit appointment at the rank of tenured associate or full professor is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of operations of research centers.
