LEAD MECHANICAL DRAFTER

Mason, MI


Position Summary: The Lead Mechanical Drafter is responsible for assigning appropriate drafting personnel to projects, coordinating the timely completion of all projects, verifying the completeness and accuracy of all mechanical drafting projects, and guiding mechanical drafters to utilize required systems and databases.
Specific Duties:
1. Insure that drawings and ECN’s meet the standards set by the Design & Drafting Standards Manual
2. Coordinate and direct the timely completion of all mechanical drafting work for mechanical drafters
3. Route mechanical ECR’s, Job Requests, UBCG’s and Minor Bill of Material Change Requests
4. Perform as a liaison between Engineering groups, Machinery Manufacturing, and Drafting
5. Correct ECN’s, X-Revision, Minor Bill of Material and Minor Drawing Change Notices pertaining to mechanical engineering
6. Correct Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing applied to mechanical drawings
7. Guide mechanical drafting personnel in current drafting and design standards, and to utilize the systems and databases
8. Utilize CAD drawing system, Matrix data management system, Machinery Manufacturing product structure system, Lotus Notes e-mail, and standard Microsoft Office software
9. Complete written documentation of assignments and reports
10. Conduct monthly team and individual project update meetings

Requirements and Qualifications:
• Must have a high school diploma/GED and eleven (11) years of professional mechanical machine drafting experience OR an Associate’s degree in Design and Drafting Technology or similar field and eight (8) years of professional mechanical machine drafting experience
• Must have at least three (3) years of experience reading mechanical machine prints and ASME standards
• Must have at least three (3) years of experience establishing project work timelines and timely completion of drafting work
• Must have at least one (1) year of experience ensuring drawings meet drafting standards
• Must have at least three (3) years of experience working with CAD, e-mail, and MS Office software including Word and Excel
• Must have excellent verbal and strong written communication skills
• Must have proven leadership and teamwork qualities

Preferred:
• Two or more years of project management/project leadership experience
• One year or more of GD&T experience
