Role Purpose
The Platform Solutions team works with customers and delivery Partners to help define and deliver high impact solutions based on the Microsoft platform. Typically these projects are working with pre-release or recently released software, often delivering solutions of a type or scale that has no precedent. Working closely with the Microsoft Product Groups, Microsoft Field Engineering and Partners, you will have the opportunity to combine your technical skills, creativity and customer focus to deliver great solutions that delight our customers and ensure they get the best out of our technology.

Team/Department Mission
Infrastructure Consultants help customers accelerate deployment so that they can realise the benefits from their investment more quickly - at the same time reducing risk to achieve a highly secure, reliable and scalable solution.

Key Accountabilities
Taking ownership of the delivery and deployment of strategic infrastructure platform solutions. Working as part of a high performing team when required to meet customer expectations.
Ensuring that the Microsoft elements of the platform solution are designed in line with current best practice and will deliver a scalable, secure and high availability platform which meets the known requirements.
Conduct high and low level reviews of designs against known Microsoft common practice.
Sharing Microsoft best practice, exploring requirements and increasing the knowledge of the customer team. Creating intellectual property and sharing knowhow within the Microsoft community
Delivering awareness and guidance about the infrastructure platform and the interaction of applications with that platform as solutions are developed.

Work in partnership with colleagues and across teams to deliver successful solutions for the customer and Microsoft.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential Experience
BA/BSc degree or equivalent work experience (including relevant certifications).
Proven consultancy skills preferably in large-scale customer environments.
Technical Depth
Design & implementation of enterprise wide messaging infrastructure and solutions based on Exchange 2003 and/or 2007. Solutions should ideally cover multiple network sites & multiple business units within an organisation.
Design & implementation of large-scale / high-throughput complex messaging architectures, demonstrating skills in network bandwidth analysis/network design, disk architecture design and server capacity planning.
Expert troubleshooting skills in Exchange 2003/2007 & Outlook 2003/2007
Implementation of one or more mobility components of Exchange 2007 and Outlook Anywhere, including ISA, OWA, Server ActiveSync.
Design, planning & execution of messaging migration plans from competitive messaging platforms (e.g. Lotus Notes)
Messaging & server security, including PKI infrastructure to support message signing, communication encryption and authentication, SPAM and Virus protection.
MCSE certification plus messaging specialisation on Exchange 2007 (preferable)
Knowledge / experience of LCS 2005 and / or OCS 2007 design and deployment (preferable)

Salary: £60,000+ basic salary, plus bonus and excellent benefits package
Location: Reading
