PC Support Specialist

Bethesda, MD

Job Description:
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a PC Support Specialist to be responsible for maintaining and ensuring proper functioning of workstations, printers, and all peripherals. This includes the actual functionality of the systems as well as ensuring that each is connected to the network and that they are loaded with the specified software. Individual will work as a member of a team that manages the help desk request system, ensuring that the specific policies regarding the system are followed, informing requesters in the comment section of what will be done and an estimated completion date. Individual works under supervision of the PC Support Manager. Resolves assigned requests under the following specific categories:

• Ensures PCs are working properly and oversees hardware, software, and
printers. Maintains desktop applications, Lotus Notes and the latest version of
Microsoft Office suite;
• Configures new desktops and notebooks and prepares notebooks for travel; and
• Co-ordinates ability for staff to remotely access electronic data through local
and Global ISPs.



Basic Qualifications:
• BA/BS computer science or A+ Certification preferred;
• Good knowledge of computer hardware and software theory as well as on hands experience with PC and latest Microsoft operating systems and other tools;
• One year experience working in a computer support position preferred;
• Good interpersonal relations and excellent communication skills;
• Good computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, Lotus Notes, Windows operating systems;
• Quick learner; and
• Enjoys working in a team environment.
