Implements the ConAgra Foods Environmental Management System across the enterprise to meet the regulatory items identified by federal, state and local entities. Directs those with plant environmental responsibilities for a specific Platform on compliance responsibilities. Conducts training on priority items identified from internal audits and develops action plans to reduce risk exposures. Leads and/or participates on Corporate EHS assessment teams. Works closely with Platform Operations and Plant management to reactively implement a world class EHS system.
Qualifications:
* Lead the implementation of the Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety Management System.
* Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local regulations as well as Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
* Support the environmental review/assessment process for the systems put in place to ensure that responsibilities are being met, corrective actions taken and follow up completed. Assessment activities may be assigned and utilized for other platforms verses assigned platform to provide independent review.
* Identify and control environmental risk to maximize shareholder value. Ensure that the work structure is focused on high risk items and provide direction in prioritization and remediation of those items at individual facilities within the platform.
* Support the capital allocation/planning process to ensure environmental needs are identified within the platform and partner with Corporate Engineering to ensure a seamless implementation of capital for the platform. In conjunction with Corporate Engineering, define the scope of work for environmental needs on new capital projects within the platform. Involvement in platform strategic planning that anticipates future requirements on environmental needs.
* Provide due diligence support as appropriate relative to environmental issues related to acquisitions and divestitures. Manage any environmental consultants that may be retained for the purpose of Due Diligence.
* Support the Sustainable Development efforts of the Corporation including but not limited to packaging reduction programs, energy and water conservation programs, etc.
* Provide site training expertise for the common Environmental Management System to all locations within the platform.
* Provide expertise to facilitate sharing of good practices and procedures on water use, energy use, waste minimization, and wastewater treatment. Provide operational knowledge of environmental control systems for troubleshooting activities and ongoing guidance for successful operation to meet permit requirements.
* Support ConAgra?s Performance System by leading all relevant environmental matters in support of the Environmental, Health & Safety Pillar of the Zero Loss House.
* Ensure that the portion of the overall Corporate Environment, Health & Safety budget relating to the assigned platform is managed to meet the allocated amount.
* Primary contact for assigned platform locations on common EMS implementation support activities. Provide communication and reporting of activities as appropriate to platform V.P. Operations, Engineering, Senior Director, Environment and other managers as appropriate.
Benefits:
* Bachelor?s Degree in Science (Environmental, Engineering, Biology or Chemistry).
* Masters in Science or Engineering and/or professional registration, preferred.
* Five to ten years of progressive experience in the safety, health or environment and/or engineering field is preferred.
* Good knowledge of all environmental regulations and their impact on the food industry
* Excellent interpersonal skills required
* Good presentation skills including written and oral communication skills
* Experience with acquisitions/divestitures desirable
* Experience with development of scope to identify environmental needs for capital projects
* Experience in implementing computer based programs to simplify compliance and improve documentation and metrics.
