The Benefits Analyst provides expert process, system, retirement savings plan and data knowledge for the administration of AutoZone, Inc. 401(k) Plan, the Puerto Rico Retirement Plan as well as the AutoZone Financial Wellness Program. 



  • Manages the day-to-day vendor relationships for routine plan administration

  • Researches, analyzes, and develops benefits analyses to meet identified objectives and needs for the 401(k) Plan and the Retirement plan while ensuring compliance with applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements

  • Resolves verbal and written inquiries for all retirement plans from commencement to completion

  • Creates and initiates 401(k) loan deductions, contribution changes, in-service withdrawals, and hardship withdraws in PeopleSoft

  • Creates and initiates loan deductions, contribution changes, and hardship withdraws in PeopleSoft for PR Retirement plan

  • Coordinate actions with the Third-Party Vendor (Pension Administrators Group)

  • Routinely researches employment and payroll discrepancies which impact retirement plans

  • Maintains data integrity for all retirement plans

  • Runs routine audit reports to ensure data integrity for the retirement plans

  • Serves as co-secretary during the quarterly Investment Committee meetings and aids in developing the meeting minutes

  • Acts as a support role for annual compliance testing of retirement plans, 5500 filings, 401(k) Transition and True-Up reports and calculations

  • Develops administrative procedures with vendors to improve service delivery

  • Generates audits and completes system updates in PeopleSoft and related vendor sites as required

  • Oversees and manages outstanding appeals and escalations


  • Bachelor’s degree with preferred specialization in Benefits and/or Human Resources required

  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years direct relevant experience

  • Subject Matter Expert use of Microsoft Office a must, particularly in Excel and Access

  • Proven experience/use of Human Resource Information Systems required – use of PeopleSoft Benefits Administration Module preferred

  • Working knowledge of ERISA, fiduciary rules, and other plan related legislation

  • Retirement certification, a plus

  • Must make judgments and take actions that may set precedents

  • Must have strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills

  • Attention to detail required

  • Must demonstrate thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks

  • The successful candidate should have the ability to multi-task assignments, projects, and daily responsibilities with accuracy and have a high level of comfort working with all levels of employees
