The FIRC (Family & Intercultural Resource Center)is a well-established community non-profit with a mission to support family stability and strength in Summit County.

The Accountant will report directly to the Executive Director.? We are looking for a reliable accountant to perform, monitor and evaluate all day-to-day accounting activities and to work closely and perform backup for our HR Manager. The position is full-time weekdays with some flexibility and is located in FIRC’s Silverthorne office. FIRC offers full benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, and a 403b retirement plan.

Responsibilities of the Director of Finance position include but are not limited to:

  • Process month and year end financials, accounts payables/receivables, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc.

  • Maintain Financial Edge database, including processing and tracking all Accounts Payable;

  • Provide monthly reconciliation for bank and investment accounts.

  • Participate in creation of annual organizational budget including salary projections and analysis of overhead expenditures.

  • Input and maintain budget information in Financial Edge for over 40 funding sources.

  • Complete monthly financial reporting.

  • Oversee proper usage of restricted funding and maintain extensive knowledge of funding requirements and reporting procedures.

  • Act as main point of contact and internal resource for annual audit including assisting external auditor with gathering information and files required for field analysis and 990 completion.

  • Assist with writing and developing grant budgets as needed.

  • Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions as requested.

  • Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; preparing special reports.

  • Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts; defining accounting policies and procedures.

  • Maintains financial security by enforcing internal controls.

  • Maintain financial files.

  • Administrative experience and team leadership.

  • BS degree in accounting or finance.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Strong PC computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office products.

  • Strong knowledge of Financial Edge and other accounting software.
