ART COLLECTION REGISTRAR

Job Summary



The Art Collection Registrar manages all collection records, gift and donor agreements, external loan agreements, inventory control, rights and reproductions, and cataloging of new acquisitions and loans.



Duties & Responsibilities





  • Serves as Chief Registrar for College's Art Collection including Museum and Campus collections as well as Outdoor Sculpture Park


  • Maintains collection management database including permanent collection and loans


  • Manages correspondence and logistics associated with loans for the museum and campus galleries


  • Serves as Chair of the College's Art Acquisition Committee facilitates meetings, manages correspondence and maintains minutes


  • Coordinates the College's fine arts insurance coverage and risk management for art initiatives


  • Serves as Chief Archivist for the museum and galleries records


  • Oversees all contracts related to gift/acquisition of art and artifacts in addition to proper conditioning reporting


  • Secures images and non-exclusive licenses for permanent collection work and new acquisitions


  • Handles rights and reproduction requests


  • Supervises staff and volunteers assigned registration duties


  • Performs other duties as assigned.




Minimum Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Art History or Museum Studies from a regionally accredited institution and five (5) years of experience in fine arts museum registration


  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution


  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures


  • Knowledge of museum registration practices


  • Possess detail-oriented skills with special attention to accuracy


  • Ability to handle sensitive material and information


  • High level of written and oral communication skills


  • Knowledge of copyright, fair use, and licensing in regards to the visual arts


  • Knowledge of proper art handling practices


  • Ability to travel to multiple campuses and worksite locations


  • Possess strong organizational skills and manage multiple priorities


  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community and use proper protocol for high-level guests


  • Excellent knowledge of conservation and preservation practices


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility


  • Ability to be flexible, communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
