ASSISTANT RISK MANAGER



  1. SPECIFICS: The Assistant Risk Manager will be trained and become proficient in the following categories:

  • Implement and administer organization wide systems for risk identification, analysis and management.


  • Report all actual and potential claims to the VP of Risk Management, who will then report to the Chief Operations Officer (COO).


  • Investigate actual claims as directed.


  • Assist with all professional management and legal defense activities in conjunction with insurance carriers, consultants and legal counsel.


  • Coordinate depositions for all civil claims. Ensure maximum confidentiality related to claims and/or litigation.


  • Coordinate depositions for staff providers when deposed as treating provider only.


  • In conjunction with Heritage Provider Network, Inc. (HPN), provide required documentation to ensure all insurance policies are renewed annually.


  • Provide risk management education for medical staff, nursing and general staff.


  • Co-Chair the Safety Committee Meetings, provide Safety Training at New Hire Orientation and monthly mandatory training.


  • Monitor, investigate and takes appropriate action on all Occurrence Screening Reports (ORS).


  • Report Sentinel and Critical Events to Quality Management.


  • Receive and evaluate attorney and/or patient correspondence and formulate response as directed by the COO or VP of Risk Management.


  • Oversee the Med-Legal Department in acceptance and processing subpoenas, attorney statutory requests, state investigations and court orders for the release of patient records.


  • Coordinate patient complaints by assisting Customer Service Department if asked to do so.


  • Manage non-compliant and patient termination activity. Consult with providers on an individual basis. Takes appropriate action when approved by the COO.


  • Become knowledgeable with CMS Compliance regulations.


  • Have oversight of Compliance Department responsibilities, audits, committee meetings.


  • Attend Quarterly Corporate Compliance meetings?


  • EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE:



    ?Paralegal with a minimum two years’ experience in health care.



    Experience in Risk Management Preferred
