ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ANNUAL GIVING

Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Associate Director of Annual Giving is a critical member of the Development team, responsible for implementing the administrative and donor-related activities to ensure a successful Annual Giving program. The position manages day-to-day operations of the individual fundraising program, manages development events including The Society Ball gala, and supervises the Development Operations Manager and the Development Coordinator.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities:





  • Oversee H+H's individual annual giving program ($750,000 per year) including direct mail, telefunding, e-mails, gift acknowledgement, benefit fulfillment, donor cultivation and stewardship, prospect research, and reporting/analysis. Ensure achievement of annual fiscal year fundraising goals for individual donors giving up to $10,000 per year.


  • Directly supervise two full-time staff members - the Development Operations Manager and the Development Coordinator - and oversee an intern program (direct intern supervision rests with the Development Operations Manager).


  • Work with the Board, President and CEO, and Vice President of Development to identify, research, cultivate, and solicit new individual donors at the Conductor's Circle level ($2,500-$9,999) and steward existing donors at this level to increase their giving.


  • Assist the Vice President of Development and the Major Gifts team in developing and implementing solicitation and stewardship strategies for $10,000+ donors ("major donors"), including Board members, as well as prospects for major giving.


  • Develop and implement solicitation and stewardship strategies for approximately 1,300 individual annual donors below $2,500 in conjunction with development staff, President and CEO, and Board members. Direct department-wide efforts to broaden the individual donor base.


  • Oversee the annual Gala, The Society Ball, the organization's largest fundraiser (250 guests, raises $350,000). Ensure ticket sales, sponsorship, auction, and program ad goals are met. Serve as staff liaison to the Gala Steering Committee, and coordinate all event logistics, including the save-the-date card and invitation mailing.


  • Serve as primary coordinator for cultivation and fundraising events including pre- and post-concert receptions, private dinners, and house concerts. Oversee the event planning, logistics, and invitation processes. Be a resource for all other organizational events.


  • Work with the finance department to reconcile revenue for all of development, including doing daily and monthly reports and assisting with audit reporting.


  • Coordinate the Development events and communications calendars for the year.


  • Interact strategically with patrons at concerts and events for the purpose of stewardship and cultivation.


  • Inspire and manage Board members and volunteers to fundraise on behalf of the organization with staff and individually. Serve as staff liaison for the Development Committee with assistance from the Development Operations Manager


  • Oversee the Development Department's regular revenue and expense reporting. Assist the Vice President of Development in creating and managing revenue and expense budgets for annual giving and special events.


  • Supervise the Development Operations Manager in assembling the weekly Income Update, yearly Fundraising Analysis, and other analytics/metrics.


  • Manage development content organization-wide (in program books, website, social media, newsletters, educational communications, etc.). On behalf of the Development Department, coordinate all communications to patrons with the Marketing Department to ensure consistency of voice and message.


  • Oversee Development Operations Manager in management of Tessitura Database (CRM).


  • Perform other duties upon request.




Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of development or equivalent experience is preferred.   • Proven track record of success managing or supporting Annual Fund or similar programs and fundraising events.


  • Ability to perform in a dynamic work environment, meeting multiple deadlines and managing multiple projects.


  • Excellent people, organizational, verbal, writing, database, computer, and systems skills.


  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar software, and Tessitura or similar database program.


  • Experience with office procedures and practices and ability to work in a fast-paced setting with a variety of people.


  • An appreciation for and familiarity with Baroque and Classical music and the performing arts.


  • Position requires regular office hours (Monday-Friday, 9-5) as well as evening and weekend meetings and events. Requires occasional light lifting as well as the repetitive, daily use of a computer.
