ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, ALUMNI PROGRAMMING & SIGNATURE EVENTS

William & Mary seeks a dynamic, highly motivated, experienced Associate Director, Alumni Programming & Signature Events to support its engagement efforts.

The Office of Alumni Engagement events, organizes and executes varied engagement opportunities for over 100,000 alumni and friends of William & Mary through specific programs, events and advisory councils.



The Associate Director, Alumni Programming & Signature Events is responsible for the coordination of various events and activities, which engage friends and alumni that are planned and hosted by the Alumni Association. Reporting to the Director of Engagement Programs and Signature Events, the position will be directly responsible for creating programming and event management in support of the university's alumni engagement efforts.



Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):





  • Identify and cultivate alumni volunteers to significantly increase alumni engagement.


  • Design, develop, and execute events within timeline and budget parameters.


  • Collaborate on marketing and collateral pieces to include programs and invitations, as well as the website and email communications strategy per event.


  • Provide pre-planning, onsite management, and follow-up of assigned engagement opportunities and programming.


  • Provide assistance for the delivery and execution of programs/events held by the Alumni Association and University Advancement, to include Homecoming & Reunion Weekend, Traditions Weekend, Alumni Admissions Weekend and regional and affinity events.


  • Consistently manage multiple events and priorities in a calm and professional manner. Events may be located on campus, throughout the region, or out of state requiring travel and overnight accommodations. Travel commitment varies throughout the year

Requirements



Education: Bachelor's degree with specialized expertise directly related to the position.



Experience & Competencies:



  • Experience in event planning or coordination.


  • Project coordination experience to create comprehensive event timelines from conception through follow-up.


  • Experience developing and managing programs for a constituent group.


  • Experience in volunteer management, customer relations, alumni relations, fundraising or a related field.


  • Experience working with caterers and vendors.


  • Demonstrated creativity with the ability to develop strategies for alumni engagement opportunities.


  • Knowledge of event marketing through both conventional and new, unconventional methods


  • Demonstrates excellent skills in cultivating relationships, including outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication abilities.


  • Demonstrates the following skills: problem solving, analytical, organization skills, and ability to balance competing priorities.


  • Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of software applications, including MS Office, and a variety of databases and web-based applications.


  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
