Reporting to the Operations & Communications Manager, the Communications & Outreach Coordinator will work to increase the IOCDF's visibility by managing the content and messaging of marketing materials to consistently articulate the IOCDF's mission and ensure that the IOCDF is viewed as the leading source of information about OCD & related disorders. This person will work to build communications tactics and community engagement initiatives to enhance awareness about OCD & related disorders and the IOCDF in the general to the public, and to the diverse communities our programs serve.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create creative and engaging content for marketing collateral that effectively showcases the programs and resources provided by the IOCDF to the larger community.

  • Develop and maintain a writing style guide to enforce a consistent "voice" of the IOCDF and messaging standards across all communications channels.

  • Manage the development and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral, including the OCD Newsletter, information brochures and handouts, website content, various IOCDF News & Update emails, etc.

  • Work with project managers of IOCDF Programs to develop and maintain relevant content to be used in marketing initiatives (e.g. Annual OCD Conference, 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Walk, Anxiety in the Classroom, etc.)

  • Serve as Managing Editor of the quarterly OCD Newsletter, soliciting articles from staff and partners, copy editing, and ensuring newsletters are in mailboxes on time.

  • Craft effective communications targeting the IOCDF's primary audiences, including writing and/or copy editing blog posts, press releases, marketing materials of many kinds, and social media contributions.

  • Act as day-to-day social media lead for the IOCDF social accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.

  • Manage International OCD Awareness Week, maintaining existing awareness campaigns (e.g. #RealOCD campaign) and developing new ones to engage the community

  • Work with the Executive Director in leading the IOCDF Ambassador Program, a volunteer-based, grassroots effort designed to empower those in the community to raise awareness and educate the public about OCD and related disorders.

  • Build communications tactics and community engagement initiatives to enhance awareness about OCD & related disorders, and the IOCDF in the general public, and to the diverse communities our programs serve.

  • Works with the Grant Writer / Philanthropy Officer on the development of the yearly Annual Report, showcasing the work the IOCDF has accomplished over the past year.

  • Track and report the efficacy of community engagement initiatives.

The Communications & Outreach Coordinator should have 2-3 years of communications experience, preferably within a healthcare or mental health field, or at a nonprofit organization. The ability to develop engaging and useful messaging that resonates with varied internal and external audiences is critical.

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field required.

  • Experience in non-profit and/or health care or mental health field preferred.

  • Exceptional communications skills, including writing (submit writing samples), editing, verbal and interpersonal.

  • Detail-oriented, strong sensitivity to deadlines, multitasking ability, strong organizational and problem-solving skills a must.

  • Experience developing and implementing communications strategies.

  • Experience in several areas of communications, including developing and implementing communications plan, message development and consistency, developing and maintaining a writing style guide, creating and implementing awareness campaigns, social media initiatives, etc.

  • Highly collaborative working style, with the ability to work independently within a team-based dynamic.

  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.

  • Experience with Wordpress or similar website platforms and familiarity with SEO and content optimization preferred

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English; proficiency in written and oral Spanish; multiple languages preferred.
