Legislative Strategy:

  • Maintains data and metrics on Active Duty, Guards, Reserves, civilians, and retirees' personnel issues.

  • Oversees, communicates, and implements procedures, and best practices that result in inconsistency across the AFA and the defense industry.

  • Contributes to the company-wide budgetary process, to deliver a realistic budgeting community.

  • Serve as the overarching AFA liaison on all matters related to legislation and government affairs.

  • Explores, creates, and maintains relationships with the Department of Veteran Affairs, Department of Defense, Department of Air Force, Congress, and defense industry partners.

  • Functions as the organizational liaison with Capitol Hill and Congressional members and staff.

  • Remains open to and recognizes other needs and duties that deliver results related to this department and the role it plays in collaborating and building the organization.

  • Skills and Qualifications that the Successful Professional Brings:

  • Master's degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 15+ years minimum experience in the national security community, with a focus on Capitol Hill and/or Air Force Legislative Liaison issues.

  • Must be able to travel (5%) and work overtime as required.

  • U.S. citizen with no known restrictions to holding a defense security clearance.

  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Integrity; honesty; understanding of data privacy standards.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Superior attention to detail; organized and able to problem-solve, budgeting experience.
