EVENING AND WEEKEND SUPERVISOR FOR ACCESS SERVICES

Reporting to the Access Services Manager, the Evening and Weekend Supervisor assists the Access Services Manager in daily Circulation Operations. Provides general supervision of student assistants in the circulation and stack areas of the library during selected afternoon, evening, and weekend hours. Provides general supervision of the building.





  • Supervise Access Services Unit during weekday evenings and Sundays.


  • Train student assistants and oversee workflow and provide direction to overnight study student assistants.


  • Process inter-library loan and document delivery requests.


  • Coordinate shelf-reading and stack maintenance with Access Services Manager.


  • Assists students with check out and returns of library materials and group study room reservations.


  • Responsible for security protocols and closing procedures for the building.


  • Receive and record payment for fines and lost books and update borrower accounts.


  • Provide general orientation of building and basic security and assists students with searching and accessing both physical and virtual library collections.


  • Participate in training staff in policies, procedures, and technology; contribute to the development of documentation and training materials related to processes and work-flows; and, identify opportunities for service improvements.


  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate service maintenance for public photocopiers and scanners, public computer workstations, public printers, and microform readers; and assist patrons with print management system.


  • Participate in special projects and cross-train to assist other library units.

Required Qualifications



  • Working knowledge of libraries and the Library of Congress call number system is desirable.


  • Ability to work independently and across teams and with a variety of projects and constituencies and meet deadlines.


  • Ability to organize projects and lead teams effectively.


  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations. Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work.


  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
