INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY - ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences at Old Dominion University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in Information Technology (IT) starting in Fall 2020. The IT discipline offers programs at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels and allies with several other programs at ODU including the Cyber Security and Business Analytics. ODU has a strong commitment in both teaching and research. The IT faculty's scholarship encompasses several areas of Information Systems and Computer Science. IT faculty research receives external funding and appears in leading publication outlets. Minimum Qualifications - Education:



A Ph.D. in Information Systems or a closely related field from business, computer science, computer engineering, or related field from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution is required by the time of appointment.



Minimum Qualifications - Skills:



The department is seeking strong candidates with research and teaching interests in Information Systems who can demonstrate both technical and managerial expertise. Candidates should be able to teach a variety of IT courses and should have excellent oral and written communication skills.



Candidates applying at the assistant professor rank will be expected to publish research papers in quality academic journals.



Additional / Preferred Qualifications:





  • Evidence of high-quality research or potential of the development of a strong research record


  • Evidence of the ability to teach a variety of courses at all levels, especially technical courses


  • Experience in network, security, python, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data analytics


  • Industry experience
