Income Research and Management seeks an individual with an actuarial and/or mathematical background to join the Product Management Team (PMT) to assist in quantitative and qualitative analysis with a focus on LDI (liability driven investing) and other custom solution projects. It is expected that this individual will act as a liaison between the Investment Team and the Client Service Team. Responsibilities may involve travel for face-to-face client meetings and some marketing responsibility.


  • Assist LDI Team in creating custom solutions for various client situations

  • Work closely with Investment Team to create model portfolios, analyze asset/liability matching, perform scenario analysis

  • Participate in client, consultant and prospective client meetings

  • Support PMT with communication and marketing requests and/or special projects, including development of LDI marketing materials

  • Interpret plan documentation and determine implications of plan design on investments

  • Model client liabilities in the context of an asset/liability framework

  • Understand current pension law, review ongoing policy and regulatory changes, and discuss pension policy and issues as they relate to investing

  • Serve as a technical resource on PPA funding rules, accounting standards, etc.

  • Work closely with Client Portfolio Team to develop custom reporting solutions


  • Strong background in actuarial and/or statistical work; knowledge of actuarial formulas, methods, forecasting and procedures

  • Experience with defined benefit plan design, needs, liability modeling and forecasting, risk management and strategic asset allocation

  • 8+ years of industry experience working with retirement plans, insurance company assets, or in a related OCIO or consulting role

  • 3+ years of experience working in an actuarial capacity

  • Familiarity with pension regulations, policy and Actuarial Standards of Practice

  • Exposure to, or knowledge of, fixed income markets

  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually

  • Strong presentation and communication skills

  • Education Requirement:

  • BS or BA Degree required in math, actuarial science or related field

  • ASA or FSA exam completion favored

  • CFA or progress towards/ commitment to taking CFA a plus

  • MBA a plus
