MANAGER OF INSTITUTIONAL GIVING

The Norman Rockwell Museum seeks a full-time Manager of Institutional Giving who can tell a compelling and fund-worthy story in person and on paper. This position is responsible for identifying, soliciting and stewarding institutional funders. The position researches prospective corporate and private foundations, government sources of support and other institutional donors, matches priority projects with funder priorities, writes proposals, prepares presentations, participates in solicitation calls as required, works on grant reporting and stewards donors.



SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:





  • Work with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to manage creative and effective foundation and government fundraising for the Museum's strategic priorities


  • Works with curatorial and education staff to identify priority projects and matches projects with institutional donor goals and interests


  • Deepens existing funding partnerships and researches prospective new institutional donors, encouraging ongoing support, creating a larger pool of funders and increased gift levels


  • Write and edit superb proposals and reports that are compelling, accurate and timely


  • Manages a system of proposal approvals


  • Works with Development staff to ensure grantors are recognized, engaged and included in Museum events and programs


  • Keeps accurate grant calendars that forecast rates and potential gifts, informs staff of deadlines and information needs


  • Drafts and edits other fundraising material as needed


  • Prepares material for face-to-face meetings


  • Meets with funders to deepen relationships and pitch proposals


  • Is proficient with online grant applications processes, fundraising data bases, funder research techniques and sources of information


  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding a yearly fundraising goal




Requirements:



The successful candidate will have samples that make us want to take out our checkbooks, 1-2 years' experience in a comparable role, great research skills, successful experience meeting with foundation representatives, a knowledge of the not-for-profit foundation world, both corporate and private, excellent computer and online application skills, and a desire to make the world a better place. Excellent writing and communication skills, dedication to detail and deadlines a must. BA or 3 - 5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
