Metadata and Discovery Strategy Librarian

The University of New Hampshire Library seeks a knowledgeable and innovative Metadata and Discovery Strategy Librarian who will play an integral role in the development, implementation, and evolution of strategies and services for the discovery of library resources and the continuous improvement of the user experience. The incumbent will assess and manage aspects of the life cycle of locally created electronic resources, including cataloging/metadata, access, discovery, assessment, and problem resolution.

Reporting to the Dean of the University Library through the Library Department Chair, this is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position with appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to meet University and Library promotion and tenure requirements, which, among other things, include scholarship and active participation in library, university, and professional service.

Minimum contractual salary offer is $79,070 for the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off. UNH tenure-track faculty are represented by the AAUP for collective bargaining.

  • ALA accredited Master's degree in Library and Information Science;

  • Working knowledge of standards such as Dublin Core, MODS, EAD, TEI, VRA Core, METS, PREMIS, RDF, XSLT, XML, SPARQL, and MARC;

  • Ability to write scripts and/or other programming skills;

  • Demonstrated knowledge of controlled vocabularies and data content standards such as AAT, TGN, CCO, LCSH, and RDA;

  • Experience working with ILS/LSP, discovery layers, link resolvers, proxy servers;

  • Experience in project management, managing multiple priorities, and competing deadlines;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
