Program Assistant and Social Media Coordinator



Parks and Recreation Department Ross Township The Township of Ross is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Program Assistant and Social Media Coordinator in our Parks and Recreation Department.



Position Summary
Performs a variety of administrative and operational tasks to implement programs developed by the Parks and Recreation Department.
Performs regular updates to the Parks and Recreation website and other social media outlets to inform Ross citizens of programs, public resources, and events made available to them through the Parks and Recreation Department.
This position requires a Monday through Friday, 11-7 pm work schedule with some additional weekend hours to be worked as needed for special events.
This position is exempt under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.



Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Implements recreation classes, clinics, and programs that are facilitated by external providers. These are primarily evening and weekend classes offered by the Recreation Department.
Works with the Recreation Director to develop future programming, including assisting with community surveys and similar data collection vehicles. Community Park programming, such as Movies in the Parks and Get Outdoors Ross Township will the main focus for development of future programming. Additional areas of development are partnership programs with service organizations such as civic associations; youth organizations; and the public library.
Coordinates communication systems for providers and participants to ensure promotion of and informational updates regarding classes and programs. Communication system coordination includes assisting with the In Ross magazine content, departmental website administration, Facebook? updates, and participation in other forms of social media.
Assists with the planning, implementation, and flow of information for the Ross Summer Recreation Program. This includes supply inventory and management, planning afternoon session activities, field trip coordination, and monitoring counselors.
Assists with major special events such as Community Day and the annual Parade. This component also encompasses identifying and/or strengthening partnerships with community-based groups such as those identified above.
Performs tasks as required by the Director of Parks and Recreation.



Qualifications



Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Website and Social Media maintenance.
Ability to work with a variety of standard computer software applications.
Ability to effectively anticipate and carry out inter-department communication regarding program requirements and/or changes to all affected groups and individuals.
Excellent organizational skills (short and long-term) are critical. Must be able to recognize and carry out standardized practices for public program implementation.



Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or a related field preferred (can substitute field experience for education requirement).
Communications and/or writing experience desirable.
Knowledge of basic office administration and related organizational tasks.



License Requirements
Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
PA Child Abuse Clearance; State Police Background Check; FBI Background Check.
