If so, we are hiring a Retail Banker to join our suburban West Chicago branch!

As an FNBC Bank& Trust Retail Banker, you will:

  1. Provide support to all assigned areas of branch operations where service or assistance is needed, including new accounts, teller, safe deposit, vault teller and lending.

  2. Assist consumer and business customers in their selection of various accounts, products and financial services; ensures cross-sell opportunities are presented by applying professional sales techniques.

  3. Following bank policies and procedures, make decisions regarding the opening of new accounts; assign account numbers; complete forms requiring customer signature(s); perform required due diligence and risk assessment pursuant to the bank's Customer Identification Program; accept initial deposits; prepare all documents and items pertaining to checking accounts, savings accounts and certificates of deposit for processing.

  4. May represent the Bank in various community, civic and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank's image and develop additional business.

  5. Provide effective customer service by answering customer questions both in person and by telephone; investigates and corrects errors; and resolve problems or other issues.

  6. Process various loan transactions; consumer, commercial and real estate loan payments and advances; processes reports and callbacks.

  7. Issue official checks, traveler's checks, and gift cards.

  8. Perform safe deposit duties by opening accounts, controlling access, assisting customers and processing affiliated reports.

  9. Receive and process stop payment and hold orders.

  10. Present funds received from customer to teller for initial deposits; determines funds availability and obtains receipt for customer.

  11. Process wire transfers, credit card orders, address changes, check and deposit slip orders and endorsement stamp orders.

  12. Record, file, update information and sort mail or reports as required.

  13. Gather data and processes various reports and callbacks.

  14. Process PRA lies of credit and check guarantee/ debit card applications, card ordering and file maintenance.

  15. Process statements, renewal notices and interest payments for IRA and certificates of deposit accounts.

  16. May assist in opening and closing the vault daily; assists in balancing vault currency and coin.

  17. Perform official notary service duties.


  • Associates' degree or equivalent experience in a financial institution, operations, sales or customer service background.

  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.

  • Effective organizational and time management skills.

  • Basic math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.


· Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a 4 year college or technical school; or 2 years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Work related experience should consist of a financial institution operations, sales, customer service or retail background.
