Berkeley Lab has an opening for a Senior Organizational Consultant & Facilitator in our Human Resources Division. This position is responsible for providing organizational development and internal consulting services to Berkeley Lab's scientific and operational divisions to help leaders define and grow their culture and strategy, as well as designing and facilitating management training and coaching for our new centralized management development program.

As such, the Senior Organizational Consultant & Facilitator must be able to evaluate the needs of the division and create, implement and lead talent development and learning initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating diversity, equity, and inclusion programs as well as organizational development solutions, including succession planning, executive and senior leader education, and cultural change.

What You Will Do:

  • Work closely with Divisional leaders to understand their organizational concerns, diagnose issues and opportunities, and provide consulting/organizational development solutions.

  • Provide organizational facilitation services, such as Organizational Diagnosis, executive coaching, Open Space Technology, Appreciative Inquiry, and Liberating Structures.

    Facilitate teams to incorporate organizational priorities such as Stewardship and the Lab's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program (IDEA: Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accountability).

    Contribute to designing a management development framework and curriculum to serve the nearly 800 managers across the Lab.

    Develop detailed facilitator guides for the management development curriculum for delivery by skilled facilitators.

    Plan, deliver, and evaluate management development programs for Lab managers.

    Deliver and assist with a variety of training programs across the Lab, including on-boarding training, culture-building workshops, Core Strengths one-day workshop for teams, and training related to IDEA.

    Assist with various facilitation needs in the HR Division.

Desired Qualifications:

Advanced degree in organizational psychology, organizational development and/or at least 2 years of experience in a consulting role.

Experience and/or formal training in organizational diagnosis methodology (e.g., Community at Work, Appreciative Inquiry), Open Space Technology, decision-making facilitation methodology (e.g., Interaction Associates), and/or Group Facilitation Skills (e.g., Community at Work, Technology of Participation).

Diversity, equity, and inclusion training/consulting.

What is Required:

BA/BS degree in HR or a related field.

A minimum of 8 years of experience in both facilitation and organizational development.

An International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified coaching certificate.

Demonstrated collaboration skills as evidenced by experience delivering projects successfully that require multiple stakeholders.

Experience working with and advising senior leaders in an organization.

Excellent consulting skills and knowledge of consulting phases (e.g., contracting, discovery/diagnosis, feedback).

Exceptional facilitation skills and experience delivering management training, retreats, and tailored facilitation solutions to clients.
