Hiring Assistant Professor of Counseling, Tenure Track at Arcadia University, Glenside





Job Description: The Department of Psychology at Arcadia University invites applicants for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in Counseling, specialty open (see the program’s website here for a list of concentrations and dual degree programs offered in conjunction with our master’s in counseling program). The position will begin fall 2025.

Candidates must hold a doctorate in counselor education, counseling psychology, clinical psychology, or a closely related field. Candidates must be licensed or license eligible in the state of Pennsylvania, as they will teach in the master’s program in counseling and they will be expected to maintain a small clinical practice to support their teaching. Successful candidates must also demonstrate the ability to infuse multicultural counseling skills and evidence-based practices throughout the curriculum. Further, candidates must be able to teach synchronously over Zoom; while most courses are offered in-person, there are a handful of courses that we offer virtually. Responsibilities:

  • Tenure-track Full-time faculty members at Arcadia typically teach a 3-3 load, often with fewer than three course preparations in a given semester; mentor graduate students; collaborate with students in scholarship; and are involved in Service, such as participation in a University initiative or committee.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology or a relevant field; ABD only considered with clear evidence of effective teaching
    • Commitment to inclusive excellence in graduate teaching
    • Evidence of scholarship and continued clinical practice that can inform clinical training
    • Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Pennsylvania
