The CMDs will collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to develop and implement precise and effective radiation therapy treatment plans. This role requires adherence to national accreditation standards, including those set by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), and the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). The CMDs will also ensure compliance with VA regulations and quality assurance protocols.The Board-Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) is responsible for designing and implementing radiation therapy treatment plans in collaboration with radiation oncologists and medical physicists. Using advanced treatment planning software and quality assurance techniques, the CMD ensures precise dose calculations while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues.Roles and ResponsibilitiesDevelop accurate and effective radiation therapy treatment plans.Use Eclipse treatment planning system and ARIA record & verify system.Perform quality assurance checks using MapCheck and ArcCheck or equivalent.Collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to optimize treatment plans.Assist in treatment simulations and tumor localization using GE Discovery CT Simulator or equivalent.Design and oversee the fabrication of compensating filters, shields, and immobilization devices.Maintain accurate and complete patient treatment records.Support radiation safety programs and adhere to national accreditation standards.Participate in continuing education and training to stay updated on dosimetry advancements.Experience and QualificationsMinimum Experience: Two (2) years of continuous work experience within the last three (3) years in a healthcare system accredited by ACR or APEx.Technical Expertise Required:One (1) year of experience using Varian Linear Accelerators: TrueBeam with Brain Lab and Rapid Arcor equivalent.One (1) year of experience in Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), including Cone Beam CT (CBCT).One (1) year of experience in Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SRT), Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).One (1) year of experience using MapCheck and ArcCheck for treatment validation.One (1) year of experience using GE Discovery CT Simulator or equivalent.Certifications and LicensesCertified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB).Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (if the VA requires it).Completion of VA-mandated training courses before starting the role.Work Hours and Leave BenefitsCompetitive CompensationFTE Requirement: Two (2) Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) CMDs are required on-site daily.Total Annual Hours: 4,160 hours per year (2 FTEs at 40 hours per week each).Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM, with the option of a compressed schedule (10-hour shifts, 4 days per week).Leave Benefits:Paid Time Off (PTO): The contractor must provide coverage for absences due to vacation, sick leave, and other personal leave.Federal Holidays (P): The VA observes all federal holidays, and contractor personnel will not be required to work on these days unless specified.This position is contingent upon contract award with an expected start date of May 2025.
