The Treasurer on the Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the financial management and fiscal health of the organization. This includes ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and supporting strategic financial planning. The Treasurer works closely with the Executive Director, finance staff (if applicable), and the Board of Directors to maintain transparency and accountability in financial matters.Key Responsibilities:Financial Oversight and Reporting:Ensure accurate and transparent financial records, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.Present financial reports to the Board, ensuring members understand the organizations financial status.Work with external auditors and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Budgeting & Financial Planning:Lead the development and monitoring of the annual budget.Provide guidance on financial strategy and long-term sustainability.Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate measures.Compliance & Governance:Ensure the organization complies with financial policies, legal regulations, and tax obligations.Oversee the proper filing of tax returns, audits, and financial disclosures.Monitor adherence to financial best practices and internal controls.Qualifications and Skills:Strong financial literacy, including experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial management.Knowledge of nonprofit financial regulations and reporting (if applicable).Experience working with financial statements, audits, and compliance matters.Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.Integrity, transparency, and commitment to the organizations missionPrevious experience in a treasurer or money management role.Strong understanding of financial, numbers, and compliance standards.
