What is the role?
Michaels Energy is seeking an experienced energy efficiency professional oversee quality control and assurance across the Delivery Department. This Continuous Improvement Manager will act as an independent consultant to ensure compliance with defined quality policies with the goal of minimizing non-conformance with desired outcomes. Additionally, the Continuous Improvement Manager will take on special projects to work with delivery teams on ongoing improvement of processes and execution. They will utilize their independent status within the organization to advocate and implement best practices across the organization. We are looking for someone who will live our company values, has broad industry knowledge and experience, and can collaborate across departments.
Quality Assurance and Control
- Implement the company’s quality management policy across the delivery department for internal processes and delivery of services to our clients.
- Conduct independent quality audits of processes across the delivery department.
- Collaborate with the delivery team to implement necessary corrective actions and ensure proper documentation of changes.
- Ownership of the company’s Quality Management Policy document, update as necessary, and review changes with senior leadership.
- Educate delivery teams on the Quality Management Policy and processes, and the benefits of adhering to the policy.
- Develop and implement a document control policy for all quality documents (e.g., internal, program, project, and marketing process documents, audit logs, etc.)
- Assist in program and product launches to ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Management Policy.
- Ensure quality management of externally provided services.
Continuous Improvement
- Establish continuous improvement goals with the leadership team.
- Work with Delivery team leadership to identify and prioritize areas for improvement across the organization.
- Analyze and review documentation of current delivery methodologies and operational procedures, contrast differences, and identify training needs and best practices across the organization.
- Conduct interviews and process mapping with staff of various roles to understand workflows, and identify bottlenecks and opportunities.
- Assist in developing and reviewing program theory and logic models, customer journey maps, risk management documents, RACI charts, and other relevant documents.
- Work with delivery teams to develop plans for improvement in products that are underperforming.
- Identify issues such as flawed product design and market acceptance, inefficient processes within a product, and potential performance issues.
- Assist delivery teams in developing a plan to measure and track relevant metrics to demonstrate improvement.
- Use lean management tools such as root cause analysis and value stream mapping to suggest changes to optimize delivery.
- Assist with change documentation and training on new procedures.
- Report on progress of continuous improvement efforts to the leadership team.
Change Management
- Develop organization change management strategies and plans for adaptive and transformational changes.
- Manage the execution of change management activities.
- Create communications and trainings around change support projects.
- Develop and track key performance indicators to measure the success of transformation efforts.
- Ensure transparency in processes and that changes are well-received by stakeholders.
- Identify roadblocks to change and communicate them to senior leadership.
Continued Learning and Education
- Investigate and recommend continuous improvement frameworks to adopt.
- Attend events inside and outside the industry to learn about other offerings and methodologies that can be undertaken by Michaels Energy.
How do you contribute?
After 3 months, you will have.
- Worked with delivery department stakeholders to refine and develop an execution plan for the company quality management policy
- Interviewed all delivery team product managers to familiarize yourself with our offerings, products, and high-level processes
- Collaborated with the Vice President of Delivery to identify and prioritize 2025 goals for continuous improvement
After 6 months, you will have.
- Implemented the company’s quality management policy, identifying gaps and developing plans for corrective action where necessary
- Worked with delivery teams to develop process improvement plans and metrics to track the success of improvement initiatives
- Identified delivery team best practices to share amongst teams throughout the company
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience (five years related experience in utility programs, program evaluation, or energy efficiency projects a plus)
- Experience in business process management/optimization, lean management, and continuous improvement methods
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently
- Advanced MS Office suite and other relevant software applications
- Ability to travel to up 10% for office visits and collaboration meetings
