We are seeking a Director of Energy Finance & AI Partnerships Director to lead efforts in evaluating, optimizing, and integrating AI-powered energy solutions within grid infrastructure. This engineering role is critical in conducting comprehensive assessments and implementing improvements for grid performance, energy storage deployment, financial viability, and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) operations. The Director of Energy Finance & AI Partnerships will provide technical insights, data-driven recommendations, and implementation strategies to support the team development of resilient, AI-enhanced energy systems.This individual will work closely with government agencies, municipalities, utility providers, research institutions, and student-led research teams to conduct in-depth evaluations and develop innovative solutions that enhance grid reliability, energy efficiency, and sustainability. This position is part of a broader vision to foster hands-on learning and workforce development for students engaged in cutting-edge energy research, preparing them for leadership roles in the clean energy sector.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct Utility Assessments: Lead team on Perform in-depth evaluations of existing energy infrastructure, including grid efficiency, load management, and storage integration.Analyze AI-Based Energy Solutions: Manage assessment for the impact of AI-driven technologies on grid optimization, demand response, and decentralized energy management.Support Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Implementation: Provide strategic insights on the integration of VPPs, ensuring optimized energy distribution and storage utilization.Evaluate Financial & Regulatory Viability: Analyze & Direct the economic feasibility of energy solutions and ensure compliance with federal and state energy regulations.Collaborate with Research & Policy Teams: Direct community orgs and university partners in student-led energy research initiatives, regulatory agencies, and corporate stakeholders to align utility assessments with emerging energy policies and innovations.Generate Reports & Recommendations: Develop project management team to provide comprehensive assessment reports with actionable strategies for improving grid performance and sustainability.Assist in Grant & Funding Applications: Provide technical assessments to support funding proposals for clean energy infrastructure projects.______________________________________________Qualifications & ExperienceEducation: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, AI, Environmental Policy, or a related field.Experience: Minimum 5+ years in utility assessments, smart grid technology, energy infrastructure analysis, or a related role.Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with AI-driven energy management, demand response systems, energy storage solutions, and grid interconnection standards.Regulatory Expertise: Strong understanding of FERC, DOE, EPA, and state-level energy policies related to grid operations.Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to interpret complex energy data and develop practical solutions for utility optimization.Experience Working with Students & Universities: Passion for mentorship and workforce development, ensuring students gain practical, industry-aligned skills in energy and AI technologies.Key CompetenciesGrid Infrastructure & Performance Evaluation Ability to assess energy networks, storage capacity, and grid resiliency.AI & Data-Driven Energy Optimization Interest of AI-based demand response and decentralized energy solutions.Regulatory & Compliance Understanding Familiarity with state and federal energy regulations and policy frameworks.Technical Report Writing & Presentation Ability to create processes to produce clear, data-driven reports for industry and policy stakeholders.Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Experience working with municipalities, public utilities, student researchers, and corporate partners on energy projects.
