The Board Member Accounting & Finance is responsible for providing financial oversight, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and advising on financial strategies to support the organizations mission. This role involves monitoring financial performance, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and assisting in budgeting, audits, and financial planning.Financial Oversight & Strategy:Governance & Leadership:Review and approve financial statements, budgets, and financial reports.Ensure the organization maintains accurate financial records and follows best accounting practices.Monitor financial performance, cash flow, and funding sustainability.Provide guidance on financial planning, investments, and risk management.Budgeting & Reporting:Assist in the development and review of the annual budget.Ensure transparency in financial reporting to the Board and stakeholders.Work with the Treasurer and finance staff (if applicable) to oversee financial controls and procedures.Monitor compliance with financial policies, tax regulations, and audit requirements.Audit & Compliance:Ensure timely and accurate filing of financial documents, tax returns, and audits.Oversee internal controls and recommend improvements to financial processes.Help manage relationships with auditors, accountants, and regulatory bodies.Fundraising & Financial Sustainability:Support the board and leadership in fundraising efforts, grants, and donor stewardship.Provide financial guidance on grant management and resource allocation.Evaluate revenue generation strategies to ensure long-term financial health.Qualifications and Skills:Expertise in accounting, finance, or financial management (CPA, CFA, or similar designation preferred).Knowledge of nonprofit financial regulations and reporting (if applicable).Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial board members.Commitment to ethical financial stewardship and transparency
