Hiring Manager of Events and Programs at San Diego LGBT Pride, San Diego





ABOUT THE POSITION: Under the direction and guidance of the Director of Events & Programs and in partnership with the Programs Team, San Diego Prides Manager of Events & Programs will develop and implement event programs in alignment with the organizations strategic plan. The Manager of Events & Programs will build and steward Prides year-round programming, as well as develop systems of operation to support goals and deliverables. The Manager of Events & Programs will support the core teams of community members who drive Pride’s year-round volunteer-led programming by providing adaptive mentorship, training, resources, systems, and administrative support. The Senior Manager of Programs is the primary staff person responsible for LGBTQ Latine Coalition and QAPIMEDA (Queer Asian Pacific Isalander Middle Eastern Desi American) Coalition. Additionally, the Manager of Events & Programs will work with the Community Programs Coordinator, and the Programs Department to provide organizational support to all of Prides programs including but not limited to: QAPIMEDA, Latin LGBTQ+ Coalition, Youth Programs, Festival and Parade.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Team & Volunteer Management      Provide guidance and collaborate with the Community Programs Coordinator on relevant projects.      Oversee volunteer leadership, including program volunteers and interns, to ensure timeline adherence and programmatic success.      Develop and implement standard operating procedures and processes for Pride 365 events, community-led programming, and targeted community outreach.      Provide mentorship, training, and administrative support to volunteers and community-led program leadership.Strategy & Program Development      Partner with the Director of Events & Programs and Executive Director to review, update, and lead the execution of community programs aligned with the organizations strategic plan.      In collaboration with the Director of Events & Programs and Philanthropy department, support the fulfillment of event sponsorships that align with the needs and mission of San Diego Pride.      Ensure event elements are in place to meet sponsorship agreements and deliverables.      Utilize best practices and metrics to evaluate and improve program impact.      Develop systems of operation that support program goals, deliverables, and long-term sustainability.Large-Scale Event Management      Direct and manage key event production elements, including vendors, logistics, contractors, event committees, volunteers, entertainment production, and budgets.      Oversee large-scale Pride 365 events, including but not limited to Latin Pride, QTAPI Week, Youth Leadership Academy, and the Youth Art Show.      Provide leadership in event execution, ensuring accessibility, inclusivity, and cultural competency across programs and events.Coalition & Community Program Oversight      Latin LGBTQ+ Coalition & Programs: Support the Latin LGBTQ+ Coalition volunteer leadership and serve as the staff liaison. Oversee and ensure the successful implementation of bilingual (English/Spanish) programming, including Latin Pride (Fall) and Mundo Latino/Latin Pride resource area at the Festival. Delegate tasks as needed to the Community Programs Coordinator and Programs Team.      QAPIMEDA Coalition & Programs: Support the QAPIMEDA volunteer leadership team and serve as the staff liaison. Collaborate with the volunteer leadership team on the long term vision for QAPIMEDA programming and support for the community. Oversee the successful implementation of QAPIMEDA programming in collaboration with volunteer leaders including the QAPIEMEDA Resource Area at the Festival      Youth Programs: Lead the execution of youth programs in collaboration with the Community Programs Coordinator and Youth Programs volunteer leadership team. Key programs include the Youth Leadership Academy (Fall), Youth Art Show (Spring), and Youth Zone at the Festival.      Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, ensuring collaborative engagement in Prides programming and resource areas. General Program Support & Organizational Collaboration      Work in partnership with the Community Programs Coordinator and Programs Department to provide organizational support for all of Prides year-round programs, including but not limited to QAPIMEDA, Latin LGBTQ+ Coalition, Youth Programs, Festival, and Parade.      Collaborate with the Programs Department and Pride staff to support additional programmatic needs as assigned.      Represent San Diego Pride at community events, partner meetings, and stakeholder engagements as needed.Other Duties As Assigned: The Manager of Events & Programs will work with the Programs Department and overall Pride staff to support other programmatic needs as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:      Education: A bachelors degree is preferred but not required. Any combination of experience, education, and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.       Experience: 3-5 years of progressively-responsible professional experience in 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a preference in program or volunteer management, youth programs, or affinity programs.       Preferred Field of Expertise: Working with LGBTQIA+ BIPOC populations, LGBTQIA+ Issues and Programming, Intersectional Social Justice Issues & Programming, Volunteer Management, Program Development, People Management, and Coalition Building      Software Skills: Must have working knowledge of and experience with event/project management software, contact management systems, volunteer management systems, and/or personnel scheduling systems; advanced level skills with Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn other computer software programs. Canva and Asana experience is a plus.      Problem Solving: Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions. Demonstrated application of judgment based on experience and knowledge.      Volunteer Coordination: Demonstrated experience and success in volunteer management, coaching, and training      Event Production & Project Management: 2-3 years experience in large scale event production and demonstrate strong project management skills. Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and work independently in day-to-day functional needs. Event management or project management certification preferred but not required.      Communication: Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to professionally interact with a variety of constituencies including donors, volunteers, staff, visitors, government officials, and the general public.      Diversity and Inclusivity: Experience working with people and communities of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and abilities.
