Hiring Board of Director- Domestic Violence Advocate at His Daughters House, Riverside





The Domestic Violence Advocate on the Board of Directors serves as a key advisor and advocate to promote the organization’s mission to support survivors of domestic violence. This role involves providing strategic guidance on program development, policy advocacy, and community outreach related to domestic violence prevention and survivor support. The Advocate ensures the organization’s initiatives align with best practices and meet the needs of those impacted by domestic violence, while actively contributing to the board’s governance andoversight functions.Key Responsibility:Governance and Oversight:Establish and oversee the strategic direction and goals of the organization.Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.Monitor organizational performance and ensure accountability for results.Policy and Decision Making:Develop and approve major policies affecting the organization.Make decisions to support the organization’s mission and strategic goals.Review and approve significant new programs and services.Financial Management:Ensure the financial sustainability of the organization.Approve budgets and monitor financial performance.Oversee financial audits and ensure transparency.Stakeholder Engagement:Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including survivors, staff, and the community.Serve as a public spokesperson for the organization.Engage in fundraising and resource development activities.Leadership and Development:Select, support, and evaluate the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).Establish executive compensation and approve senior management compensation.Provide for board development, including recruitment, orientation, and mentoring.Qualifications and Skills:Educational Background:Bachelors degree in social work, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related fieldExperience:Previous experience in a leadership role within a domestic violence or related organizationStrong understanding of issues related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and traumaSkills:Proficiency in nonprofit management and governanceExcellent leadership and managerial skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsLived Experience:Personal Insight:Lived experience as a survivor of domestic violence, providing valuable insight and empathy.Ability to advocate for survivors and influence policy and program development based on personal experience.BenefitsImpact: Make a meaningful difference in the community by supporting a cause you are passionate about.Networking: Connect with other professionals and community leaders.Development: Gain valuable experience in non-profit governance and financial management.
