ResponsibilitiesPerform receiving inspections of raw materials, BOM items, and work-in-progress parts returning from outside processing (e.g., anodizing)Identify non-conformances through detailed visual and dimensional inspectionsDocument inspection results and any issues in the MES (ProShop)Conduct mechanical inspections of in-progress and finished goodsPerform visual inspections for surface defects like nicks and scratchesMeasure parts with hand tools (calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, etc.)Operate advanced metrology equipment (CMM, FARO laser scanning arms, microscopes, optical comparators, etc.) and related softwareSupport quality planning for new and repeat projectsPrepare internal ‘dim-tagged’ drawings and document inspection plansDetermine appropriate metrology equipment for each characteristic using best practices (e.g., 4:1 or 10:1 rules)Collaborate with manufacturing team members to optimize inspection timing and mitigate risk of non-conformancesDocument and help investigate non-conformancesLog issues in ProShop and support root cause analysis or corrective action effortsEnsure all work aligns with Rennscots QMS (AS9100/ISO9001)Design and fabricate (or coordinate fabrication of) inspection fixturesUse 3D printing or collaborate with machinists to create fixtures for holding parts during inspectionStep into other support roles as needed based on company demandsAssist with CNC machine operation, post-processing additively manufactured parts, mechanical assembly, or logistics tasks (e.g., driving components to/from outside processing vendors)Required Skills & QualificationsCurrently enrolled in an accredited program in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related fieldStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality excellenceUnderstanding of metrology and measurement techniquesWillingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentPreferred Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with various manufacturing processes, with an emphasis on machining and 3D printingExperience interpreting mechanical drawings, with an emphasis on GD&TProficiency in a 3D CAD systemExperience working in a regulated work environment (e.g., AS9100, ISO 13485)Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) principles and techniquesUnderstanding of quality tools such as FMEA, control plans, and root cause analysisInterest in automotive, aerospace, or space technology industriesITAR RequirementTo conform to US Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the US Department of State.
